"As far as Crvena Zvezda is concerned, we work in such a manner that only if and when we finish some work, we announce it," Covic told Djordje Matic from Mozzart Sport. "I don't know why someone is in a hurry and cares more about us than we ourselves."
"Our team is built mainly from local players. We are in contact with ten [players]. Who are they? If it is finished, we will announce it," added Crvena Zvezda president.
Covic also emphasized that it's too early to talk about any celebrations or think of Campazzo as a Crvena Zvezda player.
"There is no reason for celebration nor for sadness," Covic said. "I agree that journalists should do their job as long as they don't contain misinformation. There won't be any from our side."
Aris Barkas from Eurohoops reported that the Serbian club offered Campazzo a €1.8 million deal for the remainder of the season.
Real Madrid are still owed €2.6 million of the €6 million release clause that Campazzo agreed to pay for leaving the club for the NBA. Barkas reports that a significant amount of that sum would be paid by the contract signed with the Serbian team.
According to Marca, Real Madrid have presented Campazzo with a €1.6 million offer per season. The Argentinian guard is resisting due to Spain's taxation and the remaining buyout fee that still roams from the time he went to the NBA in 2020.
If Campazzo signed with Real, he would be taxed like a regular Spanish citizen and have to pay a steep 45% rate. Otherwise, he'd have to pay only a 22% tax rate.
The Dallas Mavericks recently waived a 31-year-old Argentinian guard.
In 8 games this season (52 minutes played), Campazzo averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 assists.
Before a short-lived stint with the Mavs, he played for the Denver Nuggets and registered 5.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists over 65 last season's matches.
Two-time EuroLeague champ joined the Nuggets in November 2020. He has competed in a total of 138 NBA games and posted 5.3 points and 3.3 assists.
Before the NBA debut, Campazzo spent five years in Real Madrid. In the 2020-21 EuroLeague season, Facu averaged 9.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and two steals in 25 minutes.
