Damian Lillard named Giannis' dominance and versatility on both sides of the court as the main reason for choosing him.

After the departure of CJ McCollum, Damian Lillard is often considered to be the only true star of the Portland Trail Blazers roster. Even though Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant have emerged as young prospects in the league, the teams lack the star power to achieve greatness.

Asked which player he would choose as the perfect running mate and the perfect teammate to form a duo, Lillard did not hesitate and selected Giannis Antetokounmpo.

"I would pick Giannis," he said in a GQ Sports special. "I mean, I would say just the dominance, you know. [He's] somebody that's going to get to the rim. He's a good playmaker, a good defender, disruptive, and the way he plays compliments the way I play. I would bring something to the table that compliments what he does and vice versa."

Lillard was forced to miss the second part of last season due to an injury. After coming back to the court, the guard has reminded the league of his old self, averaging 26.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 7.3 assists.

Giannis, meanwhile, averages a career-high 31.9 points per game this season while also grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 5.4 assists.
