FC Barcelona reached the top of the EuroLeague standings after beating Panathinaikos Athens in a EuroLeague classic at Palau Blaugrana (74-68).

Sarunas Jasikevicius attended the post-game conference smiling. His team ended the double-round week with two solid defensive games and now shares first place with Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and AS Monaco.

"Well, to be honest, it does not have too much value. To be at the top right now give us some peace of mind, but we know in which stage of the season we are in. It means nothing. We must focus on keep improving every single week," Saras pointed out.

Barca forced Monaco to their lowest-scoring regular season EuroLeague game since 2021 with 63 points and the Catalans left PAO with just 68 points on Friday night.

"Their average was 85 points per game, so we must be proud of our defensive job. Jan [Vesely] has been extremely solid tonight. Satoransky, too. This is the way we want to continue," the Lithuanian specialist explained.

Nikola Mirotic finished his fourth EuroLeague game this season scoring 14 points, including an excellent shooting form (4/4) from beyond the arc.

"He is in his particular pre-season. He helps us a lot, but we can't use him much more. He is not ready for too many games yet," Jasikevicius said of his leader.

No secret that Saras loves football, and it's a common thing to see him at Spotify Camp Nou when he watches FC Barcelona's football team. Asked about the upcoming FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France, Jasikevicius revealed his favorites.

"Maybe the two French players will kill me [Jules Kounde and Ousmane Dembele, who represent Barca], but I will support Argentina for Lionel Messi," he concluded.
