Almost a year ago, NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton made headlines by claiming that around 150 athletes had died from the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Utah Jazz legend now went on Michele Tafoya’s podcast Sideline Sanity where he explained his views both at that time and now.

"I got it from a lot of places, otherwise I would have never had the confidence to share it. That's the beauty of it," Stockton said about the stat he mentioned in his interview. "I have quite a system that I go through before I open my mouth, especially with statistics, and I knew that at that time 150 was dramatically low. I thought it was in the area of 300."

"When I went and spoke at the Spokesman-Review, we had a nice interview and they asked that, and whatever factchecker.org or whatever dot com came out and said 'that's baloney', I went back and looked again," he told.

After sharing his thoughts about the interview from the past, he now explained his claims in greater detail.

"I have names, pictures, faces, where they played, I had over 300 at that time, so I felt pretty secure with my little 150," Stockton said. "People had to come out and argue that, and I had the proof in my hands, a piece of paper with their names."

"It's way more than that now. I think it's in the thousands now but don't quote me on that one," the NBA legend told. "I don't say a thousand but it might be, it's a big number."

When Stockton first claimed it, the statement was quickly determined to be false.
