The latter result beat the previous margin of 20 points (49-69) that was set during the 1996-97 season.
PAO owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos took full responsibility following the Greek derby loss noting that nobody else from the Greens organization has the guts to do so.
"Since no one has the guts to apologize to the fans or the club for getting crushed yesterday, I'll do it myself," he wrote on his Instagram account.
"With the necessary changes, as well as compliance with the law on OAKA (editor's note: the law giving PAO full control of the OAKA arena has already been voted on, but the Greek government is thinking about taking it back), we will be back where we belong... At the top," Giannakopoulos added and then wished happy New Year.
Panathinaikos fans started booing their team in the middle of yesterday's derby and continued doing so throughout the second half. After the match ended, multiple objects were thrown onto the court.
Moreover, a group of around 50 fans surrounded the player's tunnel at the OAKA Arena after the match, waiting for the players to come out.
The team's general manager Argiris Pedoulakis and center Georgios Papagiannis spoke to the company in a calm manner.
"We are Panathinaikos. Don't lose hands down. Only Dwayne Bacon played while everyone else slept," SDNA.gr quoted one of the fans' expressions.
