Gazzetta.gr report that the additional year on top of the previous contract includes an increase in salary for Vezenkov. In exchange, Olympiacos will receive a bigger NBA buyout sum if the forward decides to go the US.
"It started as a great opportunity. It quickly became my home and now can be considered part of me and the place I belong to. I want to thank Olympiacos' presidents, my coaches, my teammates, and the whole organization for the trust," Vezenkov wrote on his Instagram profile.
"Special thanks to my family and friends who are always next to me and push me to go beyond. I also want to thank our amazing fans for the support. We continue with hard work and humility to achieve our goals," the player posted.
Vezenkov averages 19.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 25.3 PIR in 15 EuroLeague games this season.
The Bulgarian forward missed the last EuroLeague game against Panathinaikos Athens due to a right adductor muscle spasm.
This is the fifth Vezenkov's season with Olympiacos. Having averaged 7.1 points and 2 rebounds for 6.9 PIR in the 2019-20 season, Vezenkov broke out during the 2020-21 season, averaging 11.5 points and 5.4 rebounds for 14.8 PIR.
