The Serbian team initially reacted to the news, calling against the legitimacy of the Finance Panel. Crvena Zvezda have now released a statement, calling for EuroLeague CEO Marshall Glickman and EuroLeague President Dejan Bodiroga to step in.

KK Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet informs the public that immediately after the delivery of the decision by the EuroLeague Finance Panel and the imposed penalty (according to which our club does not have the right to register new players until February 28, 2023), the club has sent an urgent request to the Euroleague CEO Marshall Glickman, as one of his legal options, to use his right and authority and suspend the decision of the Finance Panel based on Article 20F of the EuroLeague Disciplinary Regulations.

KK Crvena Zvezda have fulfilled all financial obligations and demands of the EuroLeague, about which Marshall Glickman himself was fully informed and expressed the same in public. That's why we now expect a positive and quick decision by the CEO of the EuroLeague.

The president of the Euroleague, Dejan Bodiroga, is fully informed about all the steps we are taking as a club.

The sentence imposed does not correspond to the offense committed. When determining the punishment, the Finance Panel had a very wide and gradual selection of sanctions and chose the most severe one, which does not fully correspond to the factual situation.

Any other sanction would achieve the purpose of punishing an administrative violation, and the purpose of punishment is the fulfillment of financial obligations, which KK Crvena Zvezda certainly fulfilled.

KK Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet would be absolutely surprised by the absence of a quick and positive reaction from Marshal Glickman and Dejan Bodiroga.
