With 1:24 remaining until the end of the game, Green was battling with the Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart for a better position under the basket, but everything escalated into both players pushing each other. Green tried to de-escalate the situation, and moments later, both players were separated.
Nevertheless, both Green and Stewart received technical fouls. It was the second one for Green, resulting in an ejection and 11th technical of the season.
"Do we have to call a double technical and eject a guy from the game because two guys in a competitive game in the most competitive basketball league on earth — oh my, who knew they were going to get a little upset with each other," Kerr began.
"This is the game. That's why people pay to see competition in its highest form," Kerr continued. "So to come out after timeout… We have already drawn up our play, Draymond's on the floor, and we have to inbound the ball, and they [the officials] tell us that Draymond is ejected."
Golden State Warriors head coach also said that he would like more awareness from the referees.
"That's a tough one. I haven't experienced that before. I prefer those situations where the officials have the awareness: 'Somebody has a T? We are not gonna kick him out because two guys got into a little yelling match.'
If it's earned, it's earned. Maybe I'm totally wrong. If I'm wrong, then it's my fault. But I believe there should be double technicals, leading to an ejection like that," Kerr concluded.
