Meanwhile, Campazzo took to social media and addressed the EuroLeague organization post-game.
"I'm tired and sad about this whole situation. All I ask is that you please let me play," the Argentine wrote on Twitter and tagged EuroLeague in his post.
Three days ago, EuroLeague's Finance Panel, an independent regulatory body, imposed a sanction consisting of a prohibition to register new players, including Facu, and coaches until February 28, 2023, and a fine of €25,000 on Crvena Zvezda for severe violations of the Financial Stability & Fair Play Regulations.
"It's a shame for everyone that Campazzo doesn't play, not only for Zvezda but for everyone who watches the EuroLeague," coach Dusko Ivanovic said after a 77-75 win over Valencia Basket. "People want to watch the best players, but we have to fight without him. It will be difficult, but we have to fight."
Campazzo's agency -- Octagon Basketball Europe -- also issued an official statement regarding the Finance Panel's sanction.
"The decision of EuroLeague's financial panel is essentially punishing Facundo Campazzo the most, as he will be unable to play and give the EuroLeague fans one more top name to enjoy, upgrading the competition.
In our humble opinion, the fine should have been stricter towards the concrete part committing the breach, not creating collateral damages to the most sacred part of our game and industry: the player."
