Sacramento made this decision a few days before Moneke's non-guaranteed contract was set to guarantee for the rest of the season on Jan. 10.
Moneke, 27, only played in two games this season for Sacramento, scoring two points in his eight minutes of NBA action.
He spent most of this campaign in the G League with the Stockton Kings. Moneke averaged 17.6 points and 11.3 rebounds over 16 G-League games.
The Kings signed Moneke last summer.
After going undrafted in 2018, Moneke has played internationally for teams in France and Spain, first competing in the French LNB Pro B league before receiving a promotion to Orleans Loiret Basket of LNB Pro A in 2020-21.
He won the MVP of the Basketball Champions League with BAXI Manresa and worked with Kings head coach Mike Brown when he competed for the Nigerian national team.
Across 51 games in the Spanish ACB and BCL in 2021-22, Chima Moneke averaged 14.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.
