Tyler Dorsey has signed a contract to play in the G League, according to veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein.

Dorsey began the 2022-23 season on a two-way contract with the Mavericks following a successful stint in Europe but appeared briefly in just three games for Dallas before being waived on December 26.

The Lakers reportedly worked out Dorsey on Thursday but used their open roster spot to sign Sterling Brown to a 10-day deal. GM Rob Pelinka and coach Darvin Ham were in the gym watching Dorsey, according to the report.

Despite interest from Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and his former team Olympiacos, Eurohoops' Aris Barkas previously reported that the Greek player is still not interested in overseas opportunities as he is seeking a 10-day contract with the NBA.

Dorsey, 26, was released by the Mavs after appearing in just three games this season, averaging 3.0 points in 2.7 minutes per game

With no NBA opportunities presenting themselves right away, it appears Dorsey will attempt to make his way back to the league by continuing to impress at the NBAGL level.

In 17 games earlier this season for the Texas Legends, Dallas Mavericks' affiliate, he averaged 24.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per contest, on top of 46,7% 3-point shooting.

The 41st pick of the 2017 draft, Dorsey played 104 games over two seasons with the Hawks and Grizzlies from 2017-19. The former Oregon star averaged 6.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest before heading to Europe in 2019. He had strong showings for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel and Olympiacos in Greece before returning to the States this past summer.
