Argentinian Basketball Federation joined in and even the EuroLeague mistakenly posted an Instagram story with a supportive message for Facu which contradicts the organization's official position.
The Serbian club has now released a statement that the Argentinian point guard has received multiple offers from other EuroLeague teams but decided to reject them and stay in Belgrade.
The deadline for switching teams in the EuroLeague expired yesterday, hence, if the Argentinian were to transfer to another team from the top European league, he would only be able to play in the local competition.
Facundo Campazzo himself has now posted a message on Twitter that he intends to remain with the club despite the sanctions that limit his playing time.
"I am staying at Crvena Zvezda! I am staying with the club, with my teammates, with our fans and with this city," Facu tweeted. "Let's go together with new victories. Napred Crvena zvezda!"
Crvena Zvezda has since accused Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade of interfering in the EuroLeague's decision. The club has also called for the league's leaders - Marshall Glickman and Dejan Bodiroga - to step in and overrule the decision.
The team says it's still fighting to overturn the ban.
