"We are under the surface on a mission. Nobody sees us, we don't see anybody. We just work hard and try to pursue the mission. When we will surface, then we will see how many ships we have in front and how many ships we have behind," Trinchieri said.

FC Bayern Munich are now on a three-game winning streak at Audi Dome after beating Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz 92-79 on Tuesday night.

Cassius Winston scored a team-high 16 points for Bayern on a night when everyone shared the load, with five other players scoring a double-digit number of points: Augustine Rubit (13), Nick Weiler-Babb (12), Othello Hunter (11), Niels Giffey (11), and Corey Walden (11).

"That was a great game. Six players in double digits. Team offense, team defense. We only had problems with [Markus] Howard down the stretch in the second quarter, but we adjusted. I believe that we deserved the win because we played with great intensity, great energy, and we wanted to shoot the ball open – we shot a lot of open threes, and we made them. I believe that we responded as a team. Everybody basically helped to build this kind of result," coach Andrea Trinchieri started the post-game conference.

"We are alive, we are fighting, we are competing, and as I said in an interview a couple of days ago, we are not looking at the rankings now," he continued.

"We are the crew of a submarine, we are on a mission underwater, and in March, we will surface and see where we are at. We will try to keep fighting, keep working hard, and keep improving, despite the players we are missing," the Italian mastermind emphasized and then referred to the missing players:

"Without [Vladimir] Lucic and Andi [Obst], we have between 12 and 13 shots less with a very good percentage, over 40%," Trinchieri pointed out. "So, we don't have one player who can take this, but we can have every player taking two more shots, and that was the result [tonight]. I'm happy for my players and for the club for how we are playing, despite all the adversities. Head up, fighting and competing."

In which position is Andrea Trinchieri's submarine now, in January?

"Here we are: 250 meters under the surface. On a mission. We have everything written what we have to do. Nobody sees us, we don't see anybody. We just work hard and try to pursue the mission. When we will surface, then we will see how many ships we have in front and how many ships we have behind," Trinchieri provided a picturesque comment.

"It's the only way to survive this," he resumed. "The [EuroLeague] ranking is so complicated. What you can say? Baskonia was playing amazing basketball, first in the ranking, and winning everywhere.

"Today, I do not say we dominated the game, but we controlled it. Okay, did you see the ranking in this game? The ranking that you can read before the game? No, so why look at the ranking? Go into a submarine. Maybe it's a yellow submarine," Andrea Trinchieri concluded.

Bayern are now unbeaten in their two games in 2023. They face a trip on Thursday to meet Fenerbahce Beko in Istanbul, who also won on Tuesday to bring their own five-game losing streak to an end.
