"I'm sorry that I can't attend [the event], but I would like to thank the federation and the journalists for choosing me as the best player of the year. A great honor and pleasure. Thank you to my family and the team as well, who have been helping me to progress for 7-8 years," Jokic sent regards from Denver, while his father Branislav accepted the award on his behalf.

Jokic won the second straight NBA MVP award in 2022. He has no intention to stop in 2022-23.

The 27-year-old averages a near triple-double of 25.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 9.7 assists over 37 games this season.
