Pacers coach Rick Carlisle stated after the game that the player would get "checked out" Thursday to find out the severity of the injury and added that he left the arena on crutches.
The injury occurred with 2:44 remaining in the third quarter as Haliburton drove to the rim. As he contorted within the air to get his shot off across the rim, he landed awkwardly and stayed on the floor as play resumed on the opposite end. The Pacers deliberately fouled to cease play, and Haliburton limped straight to the locker room with one shoe off.
Carlisle said Haliburton injured his left elbow and knee on that play. The Pacers initially introduced Haliburton as questionable, however 5 minutes after that, the star guard was ruled out for the rest of the game. At the time of his injury, Haliburton had 15 points and 7 assists.
With a 23-19 record, Indiana sits on the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference standings, as Haliburton has put up a season worthy of an All-Star look. After being traded to the Pacers at the end of the trade deadline, Haliburton has been recording career-best numbers in both points (20.3) and assists (10.3) per game.
