Last October, the 13 owner clubs of the EuroLeague together with the acting CEO of the competition Marshall Glickman traveled to Dubai to meet with the emirate's representatives, with the aim of exploring opportunities for collaboration.

More recently, Dubai looked like a possible venue for the 2023 Final Four, which will be held in Kaunas.

What seems clear is that one way or another, the collaboration between the EuroLeague and Dubai will take place. After Dino Radja, who maintains that it's a matter of time as long as the economic conditions are met, another voice has been added to the supporters of a possible EuroLeague expansion intonew markets.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Nikola Mirotic said he not only wouldn't mind having to travel to Dubai, but the fact of adding a team from the United Arab Emirates to the competition would open many doors.

"There are some rumors of the possible option of [hosting a team in] Dubai. It seems like a great idea, honestly. Why not?" FC Barcelona's star player pointed out.

"Considering the status of the EuroLeague, changes are needed, in terms of marketing and budgets. In the end, one must think that teams will only travel to Dubai once, not four times [during the season]. You have to think as they would think," Mirotic continued.

"The amount of money and the doors that can open from having a team there, I'm all for that. For me, it's a great idea. Obviously, other people will have to decide. But we'll see how this ends up," the Montenegrin forward told the Catalan outlet in an excerpt released today.

It's a project that the top continental competition has had on the table for some time. Dubai aspires to organize three consecutive editions of the Final Four and to have its own team competing with the biggest clubs in Europe.
