With 13 assists in the match, Jokic overtook Alex English and became the franchise's all-time leader in assists. It was his 3,680th career assist. It took 269 fewer games for Jokic to reach the top as English did it in 837 games while this was Jokic's 568th.
"Hopefully, my teammates love to play with me just because I share the ball," Jokic said after the game. "My teammates are always on the right spot, it's an easy job for me."
English himself congratulated the Serbian center after the game.
"I knew that eventually my all-time assist record would be broken," the legend tweeted. "I'm honored to see that it's 2-time, I mean, 3-time MVP of the NBA [that] does it. Congrats big fella."
