"There's no point [to appeal], we tried to temporarily suspend that wrong registration decision but we didn't succeed. Now let's move on, appeal, make decisions in May, June, spend money," Crvena Zvezda's president Nebojsa Covic said during a press conference yesterday.
For now, Facundo Campazzo, who is now at the epicenter of the events, remains available to coach Ivanovic for the matches in the ABA League and will miss the EuroLeague duels against Zalgiris Kaunas, Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade, Virtus Segafredo Bologna, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, and ALBA Berlin.
The only remaining option to reduce the time of the ban is an amnesty from the EuroLeague CEO Marshall Glickman. In a recent interview with BasketNews, the operative declared that he's not going to use his right to overrule the decision.
"It wasn't a question of, 'Can Campazzo play or not play.' It wasn't anything to do with Campazzo. We have to uphold the integrity of the system, particularly in a situation where we're doing precisely what the Management Control Commission asked us to do. So I didn't feel that it was at all appropriate for the CEO to step in and change something that had been going on for quite some time," Glickman said.
