The 29th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft didn't like how he was treated in his rookie season.
"They bring in a point guard from Argentina [Nicolas Laprovittola] that's close with Manu, playing in front of me," Murray began. "Mind you, I'm behind Tony [Parker], Patty [Mills], but they're playing these mind games."
"They tryna see if they can break you. They want you to break yourself. Man, bro, this is too much, bro. What they put me through, bro, I don't understand. People don't realize I went through so much there," Murray continued.
Murray also revealed that his background was a problem for the Spurs.
"I was there 6 years. I feel like really, and they know I feel this way," Murray began. "I feel like they drafted me, but they feel like the stuff that was going around the air of me coming from the hood."
"That I was going to make it, an entourage of 30 people smoking and drinking, in articles about fighting, ruining their reputation of what they stand for as the Spurs. I think that's what they thought, but they never said that," Murray continued.
The current Atlanta Hawks guard also said he was trying to show himself by going to the practices to the level he had to be kicked out of the gym.
"Just from the stuff I had to go through. When they have seen like he [Murray means himself] needs a chance and this m*********** be in the gym… They had to start kicking me out of the gym.
When they said you got 24 hours access [I went] every day. Knowing I wasn't playing, so I'm like, 'Lace them up, we're going to the gym'. Everyday. Obviously, I started growing," said Murray.
Murray also remembered how he took over Tony Parker's role and said that the French point guard didn't like the transition.
"First year goes by, thrown in the fire in the playoffs vs. Rockets. Then my second year, they see I come back, obviously getting stronger, getting better. That was the year I took the job from Tony [Parker].
Pop brought us into the office, he told Tony. Tony ain't like it. I know he ain't like it. I love real keep it a buck with me. Keep it a hunnid, bro. Imma love you for that. I know he didn't like it. Because if he liked it, he would have mentored me the way he should have. He wouldn't have gone to Charlotte. He would've stayed right there," Murray concluded.
