Tchouameni attended the NBA Paris game between the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls, even though Real played Villareal in the Spanish Cup at the same time.
Following the backlash from the fans, Tchouameni issued an apology.
I apologize to my club, the coaching staff, my teammates, and the Madrid fans for my presence at an event at a time when we were at stake in the Cup," Tchouameni wrote on Twitter. "I have been attentive at all times to what was happening in Villarreal, but I have not done the right thing. Very sorry."
Real Madrid ended up winning the quarterfinal 3-2, while the Bulls beat Pistons 126-108.
