Recently, NBA Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon gave an interview to Sports Illustrated where he highlighted Nikola Jokic as the true remaining post player in the NBA while at the same time criticizing Joel Embiid for his style of play.

"He's got all the moves, but leveraging the moves is different. Why would he be shooting threes? He has the advantage every night, and if I have the advantage, I'm going to wear you out. That's settling! When I'm tired, I settle," Olajuwon explained his view on Embiid. "You don't settle when you're trying to win. You don't start the game settling!"

The Philadelphia 76ers superstar has apparently read the legendary center's words and decided to respond after a win against the Portland Trail Blazers last night.

"From the time that [coach Doc Rivers] got there, the first thing that he told me was I need to figure out where I want the ball. Obviously, before it was in the post, but like I mentioned in the past, posting up and posting all game long is easy to double," Embiid said why his favorite spot to receive the ball is in the elbow/nail area.

"It's funny when you've got these old guys always talking about posting up, you need to spend time in the pain and all that stuff. You can't win this way anymore. It's not the fricking 90s or 80s like it used to be. So they must not have any basketball IQ," the player concluded.

Embiid is averaging 33.6 points per game this season, which is the second-highest mark in the entire league. The 76ers center is 20th in the league in post-up frequency and just 5.5 points of his 30+ point total come from post-up situations.
