The driver of another car died on the scene, the police report says.
Michael Porter Jr. was not involved in the accident, current information says. A spokesman of the Nuggets told The Denver Post that the player was not in the car.
Porter Jr. did not play in Sunday's NBA match against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to "personal reasons", the club announced.
Coban Porter hasn't played a single game for the University of Denver this season yet as he's rehabbing from an ACL injury he suffered during the offseason. He had previously averaged 11.4 points in 28 games in his freshman season last year.
"This is a tragic and heartbreaking situation, and our deepest sympathies are with those involved in the accident, their families, and friends," the University of Denver's statement reads.
