The Zalgiris player felt pain in his back in mid-December and finally underwent surgical intervention.

The forward is expected to miss at least 3 months of basketball after the successful surgery performed by neurosurgeon Bronius Spakauskas.

"We would like to thank Dr. Spakauskas for the successful surgery," said Zalgiris Kaunas doctor Vytautas Kailius. "Although we tried conservative methods of treatment with Tyler, in the end, it turned out that the surgery could not be avoided. The player will start his rehabilitation in 8 days. If it goes according to plan, we could expect Tyler's return to the court at the end of April."

The last time Cavanaugh played was on December 15 in a EuroLeague game against Real Madrid. In 18 minutes, the 28-year-old accumulated 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 15 PIR.

Cavanaugh has played 14 games this EuroLeague season, scoring 5.9 points and grabbing 4.3 rebounds.

On the national stage in the Betsafe-LKL, the American put up 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
