Alessandro Gentile opened up on the reasons that led him to Udine, a 2nd-division Italian team, and on his physical condition after suffering an injury from a fall in July 2022.

The Italian forward conceded a comprehensive interview to Corriere di Bologna, where he spoke about the process he went through after the incident that happened when the former AX Armani Exchange Milan forward fell off a wall while on holiday in the Balearics in July 2022.
Gentile was then hospitalized in Palma de Mallorca after falling from a balcony of the villa in Formentera he had rented.
"I did not set a time limit for myself [after the accident]. I just wanted to go back one day and play basketball," the former EuroLeague player said.
"I was aware that the accident was serious and even being here today is a victory for me. I am happy to be back on the field and to wear the Udine jersey. I've been in Udine for over a month. I'm still trying to get in shape slowly. But it's a long process," he continued.
"When something like this happens to you, you re-evaluate yourself, and your ideas, and think about your priorities. I knew beforehand that it was a privilege to make a living through basketball, but now it's clearer to me and I'm grateful for it," Gentile argued.
Alessandro Gentile, who sustained fractures in his spine after an accident falling from a height of 4 meters and underwent a difficult treatment, stated that despite the setback, he continues his life normally and will soon become a father.
"I will have a son in May. Of course, I came from a bad accident but no one from Serie A took care of me on my return. I noted this. It was Udine who wanted me and I thank them for that," he noted, reproaching the Serie A teams.
The 30-year-old player managed to adapt quickly to his adventure in the lower league. Last week, he led his team to victory over Rimini, scoring 20 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists.
"I don't take anything lightly and try to catch up. I'm discovering things that are different from what I'm used to tactically. Udine's goal is to go all the way and that's what I'm here for," he commented.
