One of them is Tomas Satoransky who left the NBA to come back and play in Europe under the guidance of head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius.
"He always tells me that I have come [to the team] to be a leader and asks me to make a difference. I love having a coach who repeats this to me every day, he motivates me," the Czech point guard said about his current coach. "He asks me to organize the team, be aggressive, penetrate and create advantages. Being with him every day and seeing how he thinks about basketball gives a lot to me."
Satoransky missed three games in January due to tendonitis in his right ankle. Although he's back on the court, the player admits that it's something that he will have to deal with constantly.
"It is clear that I am going to have some discomfort during the season. Hopefully, it can disappear, but it is complicated with this calendar," he explained. "I have to learn to play with this, there is not much time between games."
"You have to play each game with maximum intensity, they are all a battle and it shows in your body. It is very demanding," Satoransky said. "I like this system, but at the end of the year, you may be devastated."
Barca will play three games at home this week. First, they host Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv today and FC Bayern Munich on Thursday. Then, a clash against Valencia Basket in the ACB comes on Sunday.
