Los Blancos have won their last 12 home games against the Greek team, dating back nearly ten years to March 2013. This was the 5th straight time that the Spanish team enjoyed a double-digit margin vs. the Greens in Madrid. The six-time EuroLeague have suffered 15 consecutive losses on Spanish ground.
The hosts led for all 40 minutes of its game against Panathinaikos. The Greens tried their best to come back after falling down by 20-plus points, but ultimately it was too late. Guerschon Yabusele had a team-high 16 points for Real, while Paris Lee was the game's highest scorer with 17.
A dominant (29-12) second quarter was enough for AS Monaco (14-8) to overturn a rough start in Berlin and get an easy win over hosts ALBA Berlin (102-84). The team coached by Sasa Obradovic reached the century mark in points for the second straight game, after last week's victory over Olimpia Milano.
For the German side, that was their 4th straight loss, which forced them to take one more step back (6-16). ALBA, who have only mathematical chances of going forward, confirmed their status as one ofthe league's leakiest defenses, allowing their opponents to score at will.
Donatas Motiejunas paced Monaco with 22 points while Mike James collected 13 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Jordan Loyd, Elie Okobo and Yakuba Ouattara all added 12 points. ALBA committed 20 turnovers to fall to 6-16 in last place. Yanni Wetzell had 17 points for ALBA with Gabriele Procida adding 16.
Wednesday's EuroLeague action kicked off in Istanbul, where hosts Anadolu Efes took down Zalgiris Kaunas 80-70, improving to 11-11.
Rodrigue Beaubois put the cherry on the cake in the final seconds of the game with back-to-back layups, as Efes went 10 points ahead en route to the win. Will Clyburn was incredibly important for Efes, scoring 19 points, including a steal and a dunk to put his team up 6 late on.
Ignas Brazdeikis had a career-high 25 points in the loss, Zalgiris's second in as many rounds. The Lithuanians are now 12-10, having suffered their second loss to the EuroLeague champs in the season after a 60-86 blowout in Kaunas.
