The referees called the offensive foul, his fifth personal, on Bako with 4:08 remaining in the fourth quarter, but he continued playing until the next stop in a match with 3:54 left.
Bako seemed to be heading to the Virtus bench after his offensive foul, but ASVEL inbounded the ball and he remained on the floor.
The table officials didn't inform the referees about the fifth foul, so the player stayed on the court for the whole following action. As there was another foul following a few seconds, the mistake didn't really affect the game.
ASVEL head coach complained about the whole sequence after the eventual substitution.
Bako finished the game with 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 PIR in almost 20 minutes. His team ended up winning a game at the Astroballe, 77-64.
Virtus improved to 11-12 in the standings and grabbed their first EuroLeague road win since early January, while ASVEL dropped to 8-15 after losing their two games this double-round week.
