With the NBA trade window closing on Thursday, February 9th, Irving will be sidelined for the two upcoming Nets matches against the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns, according to Chris Haynes from Bleacher Report.
Additionally, the start guard hasn't decided whether he will play for Nets if he's not traded before the deadline or sit out the rest of the season entirely, Brian Lewis from the New York Post reports.
At least three teams were initially interested in acquiring Irving via trade. The Clippers joined in a day later. The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to offer a package centered around Russell Westbrook.
The Nets guard has a 15% trade bonus in his contract. If he's traded before the February 9th deadline, he'd get a $2.1 million bonus which would have to be paid by the Nets if Irving doesn't void it.
Irving has been averaging 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists for the Nets this season.
