"Signing Roman Sorkin for two additional years beyond this one serves as a statement for our club's long-term dedication," Maccabi's chairman Shimon Mizrahi said after the deal was made.
"Roman will be one of the team's anchors and one of our goals is to preserve the current roster and its continuity as much as possible. We are very happy and we congratulate Roman, who is certainly on an upward scale. I am sure he will keep it this way," Mizrahi told.
After averaging just 2.9 points and 1.8 rebounds for 3.2 PIR per game in the EuroLeague last year, Sorkin has seen a renaissance in his game this year. The Israeli forward averages 7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1 assist per game for 9.4 PIR.
"I am very happy to sign for two more years in a club that has become my home," the player commented after the signing. "I feel like we are all one big family. Our mutual goal is to earn achievements and make our fans - who I am so connected with - happy. We have goals and we are just in the middle of the season, and all I want right now is to work towards winning and earning trophies."
