The Kyrie Irving trade between the Brooklyn Nets and the Dallas Mavericks shook the basketball world on Sunday. Even some government officials decided to comment on the news.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams was asked during a press conference if he would have traded for Irving if he was a city hall employee. The elected official had a witty answer.

"I will find the team that beats us the most and then send him to that team because we would start beating that team," Adams told the media.

Due to various issues of multiple kinds, Kyrie only managed to play only 143 of a possible 278 regular season games throughout his time with the Brooklyn Nets.

Kyrie has been involved in multiple media scandals in recent years, the two most recent being related to his antisemitic Twitter post and his anti-vaccine stance.

Irving averaged 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists for the Nets this season.
