"There were times in Brooklyn when I felt very disrespected," Irving pointed out. "I work extremely hard at what I do. No one ever talks about my work ethic, everyone talks about what I'm doing off the floor. I just want to change that narrative and write my own story.
I am always going to be close with those guys in Brooklyn, just like I am close with guys in Boston, just as I am close with guys in Cleveland. It's a team competitive sport but we care about each other families way more off the court, so I know these relationships will extend off."
Irving also commented that he "feels really wanted" in Dallas.
"I want to be somewhere where I'm celebrated, not just tolerated."
Kyrie Irving, a seven-time All-Star, continues to prove that he is still one of the best point guards in the league, averaging 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists over 40 games for the Brooklyn Nets this season.
