"With all due respect Madam Minister, it is a pity to wait for a foreign record instead of congratulating your own athletes. But thanks anyway," De Colo replied to Oudea-Castera's tweet.
On February 3, De Colo became the all-time top-scorer in European Cups. The French guard made a 3-pointer at the beginning of the game against Virtus and scored his 4905th point in his international club career.
However, it seems that De Colo didn't receive his congratulations message, which apparently upset the ASVEL guard.
De Colo overtook the legendary Nikos Galis as the all-time European Cups scoring leader.
Galis previously held the record for more than 28 years. The Greek legend had scored 4,904 points in his European Cups career, with his last points coming against Budivelnik Kyiv on October 6, 1994, in the FIBA European League, which is the predecessor to the current EuroLeague.
De Colo averages 13.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 15.4 PIR per game over 21 EuroLeague contests this season.
