Even though he got the rebound, Tatum inadvertently elbowed his own teammate in the process. Brown immediately fell to the ground holding the left side of his face. The team ruled him out at halftime with a facial contusion.
According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, Brown might miss some time due to the injury. The initial belief is that the guard will be sidelined through the All-Star break, forcing him to miss the game next Sunday, Charania notes.
Brown will be further examined today.
"I hope he's all right," Tatum told after the game. "We both went for the rebound, collided ... just a freak accident. I feel terrible. So, I just hope he's going to be all right."
At the time of his exit, Brown had scored 4 points on 2-for-9 shooting. Boston went on to win the game.
