Following his MVP campaign in 2016-17, 15-season NBA veteran Russell Westbrook signed a five-year, $205 million contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The deal, which was officially penned on September 29, 2017, started with the 2018-19 season and delivered Westbrook the biggest guaranteed contract in NBA history: six seasons and $233 million through 2022-23. It also included a player option for 2022-23.

Since that day, Westbrook has already been involved in four trades. He played for the OKC in Year 1 of his huge deal, but later was traded to the Houston Rockets, then Washington Wizards, afterward Los Angeles Lakers, and now Utah Jazz.

In the 5 years of the then-largest deal (via ESPN's Field Yates):

Westbrook's last trade came on Wednesday night. The Lakers managed to flip the star guard for the Utah Jazz duo Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, and D'Angelo Russell from the Minnesota Timberwolves by sending the 2027 NBA Draft first-round pick with 1s-4th picks protection.

Westbrook, a nine-time NBA All-Star, holds career marks of 22.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.4 points over 1073 appearances (1007 starts) with the Thunder (2008-19), Rockets (2019-20), Wizards (2020-21), and Lakers (2021-23).

Interestingly, Utah could be his intermediate stop, as the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, and Miami Heat are reportedly interested in Russell Westbrook in a buyout situation.
