In late January, Red Star announced that the club is not happy that Partizan were not punished for withdrawing from the Serbian Basketball League playoffs last summer, therefore the team is seriously considering leaving the cup tournament.
As the president notes, the future will say whether Zvezda will participate in the Radivoj Korac Cup.
"We will make a decision about participation in the Serbian Cup on Monday or Tuesday. That's for a simple reason – how can you participate when KSS [Serbian Basketball Federation] did not sanction someone who left the competition and humiliated the whole basketball? Now we need to talk about the players for the FIBA windows. Who should we talk to?" Covic asked rhetorically.
The 8-team playoff tournament for the cup will be held in Nis from February 15th until February 18th.
The potential arrival of veteran playmaker Milos Teodosic was another topic to discuss. There were reports from Italy that the current Virtus Segafredo Bologna point guard is about to extend the contract with the Italian powerhouse, despite the Red Star's interest.
Covic pointed out that nothing is decided yet.
"We have a story, we have a conversation, and we will see if he will play for us. Wait until the end of the season," Zvezda's top executive said.
