The star forward is now expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks after the All-Star break, meaning he may not return to the court until March.
The team went on a 10-game losing streak at one point without Williamson but has won 3 of their 4 most recent contests. The 22-year-old has been playing top-notch basketball when healthy this season, averaging 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game in his 29 games.
At 29-28, the Pelicans have been able to stay seventh in the West, hoping for a post-All-Star push with Williamson back in the lineup.
